I launched the Jane Goodall Legacy Foundation in order to create an endowment that will enable the programmes I have developed to continue, and new ones to be initiated, so that the fight to make a better world for people, animals and the environment may carry on beyond my lifetime.

Our Purpose
The Jane Goodall Legacy Foundation (JGLF) was established in June 2017 by Dr. Jane Goodall DBE. The intent of JGLF is to build, invest, and manage an endowment to support programmes of the Jane Goodall Institute, including Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots. Jane’s wish was that future disbursements from the endowment would fuel conservation, research, and educational programs within the Jane Goodall community. JGLF encourages donors to consider funding currently operating programs and chapters within Jane’s existing organizations alongside any investments in her legacy endowment.

REASONS FOR HOPE

"The greatest danger to our future is apathy".

"Roots creep underground everywhere and make a firm foundation. Shoots seem very weak, but to reach the light they can break open brick walls. Hundreds and thousands of roots and shoots, hundreds and thousands of young people around the world can break through these walls".

"Every individual matters. Every individual has a role to play. Every individual makes a difference".

"Above all, we must try to educate young people to be better stewards of this planet than we have been".

"Only if we understand can we care. Only if we care will we help. Only if we help shall all be saved".

"We do not have much time left. We must act now".

"We have a choice to use the gift of our lives to make the world a better place".

"You can help heal the world".

"Let us develop respect for all living things. Let us try to replace violence and intolerance with understanding and compassion. And love."

"I like to envision the whole world as a jigsaw puzzle. If you look at the whole picture, it is overwhelming and terrifying, but if you work on your little part of the jigsaw and know that people all over the world are working on their little bits, that’s what will give you hope".

"We can slow down climate change. We can make the world a better place".
